Science Communication
Public speaking & media
I regularly speak about astronomy and science communication in settings ranging from planetarium talks and YouTube videos to online interviews and informal 21-and-over venue events.
Writing
As a 2019 AAAS Mass Media Fellow, I wrote stories making complex physics and astronomy accessible to broad audiences. My work has appeared in Natural History Magazine, The Planetary Society, Astrobites, and the Union of Concerned Scientists.
Communications training
I have trained over 500 researchers in effective communication strategies through the RELATE organization at the University of Michigan, as an active organizer for ComSciCon, through independent consulting, and in my role at Rubin Observatory.
Leadership, service, and community building
I build inclusive science spaces, mentor early-career researchers, and lead initiatives that empower scientists to tell better stories, including co-organizing over five major science communication conferences.
